Following people / Property Crime reported in the Foothills on Wednesday, May 10th

Following people:  Yesterday a well-meaning Foothills Area Command citizen followed someone he believed to be an auto burglar and was attacked with a stick by the person he was following.  I had another incident posted on a community chat room web site relayed to me about another well-meaning citizen hopping into his car to follow a person he felt was casing the neighborhood for crime at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.  The citizen reported on the chat room that he followed this person for three miles before turning around and going back home.

If you think a crime is in progress please call APD’s 911 or 242-COPS (non-emergency number) from a safe place and provide the operator with the best description you can.  Officers will be dispatched and are highly trained in how to handle these types of situations and scenarios.  Don’t risk your safety when we have law enforcement working hard 24/7 to take these types of calls.
