Property Crime in the Foothills on Tuesday, April 18th / Oklahoma City bombing anniversary

Property Crimes Reported in the Foothills Area Command Tuesday, April 18th

2 Car Jackings:  1800-block of Eubank NE and 1000-block of Tramway NE.

1 Armed Robbery at a Business:  1500-block of Eubank NE.

2 Residential Burglaries:  3000-block of Jane Place NE and 100-block of La Villita Court NE.  Entries both appear to be unforced.

7 Auto Burglaries:  700-block of Chelwood Park Blvd NE, 12500-block of Domingo Rd NE, 800-block of Nakomis NE, 12300-block of Conejo NE, 400-block of Georgene NE, 12800-block of Chico NE, 11100-block of McKnight NE.  Entries:  unlocked vehicles, breaking windows, damaging door locks.  Items stolen:  vehicle registrations, insurance documents, a bag, phone cords and charger, student ID.  Trend and Tips:  I see a shift from auto burglaries in apartment complex parking lots and commercial parking lots to single-family residences as targets.  Remove all items of value when parking and bring those things inside with you and lock the car.  If you see someone suspicious jiggling car door handles or peering into vehicles please make that call to 242-COPS (2677), the APD non-emergency line.  If you see a crime in progress, call 911.

Today is the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, which warrants a reminder to the community:  if you see something, say something!  Citizens see more than they realize and your calls to report suspicious persons are important.  We can all be vigilant and aware as we go about our day — not being in fear, but being aware and willing to help.

Be safe,

Jill Garcia, Crime Prevention Specialist / ICPS, NCPS – APD, Foothills Area Command
