Barbaro SE: The Foothills’ newly formed Neighborhood Watch / Property Crime / Chile Dog Fundraiser

New Neighborhood Watch group formed in the Foothills:  Please welcome the residents of Barbaro SE in the Juan Tabo Hills Neighborhood Association as our first Neighborhood Watch group formed in 2017!  The residents are now trained in basic crime prevention practices, know how to track crime on public access web sites and this one, and to safely observe and report crime in progress or suspicious activity to APD.  Thanks to Jill E. for serving as Block Captain, to Harvey E. for offering to be Co-Block Captain and to Jay S. for organizing the meeting and completing the Starter Kit.

If you would like to start a Neighborhood Watch group on your block or re-start one that has died out and become inactive, your first step is:  contact APD’s Steve Sink at 244-6644 to get a Starter Kit and have a quick conversation about your block.

These Neighborhood Watch groups help our officers in the field with more focused, unified neighborhoods.  The Foothills Area Command is now up to 234 active groups — why not make your block the 235th?

Chili Dogs with A Cop:  Benefiting the family of mother and daughter killed by escaping auto thief in the Foothills Area Command.

Come join officers with the Albuquerque Police Department for food, fun, fellowship and support a grieving family.

Our Community is invited to come and enjoy lunch with their Albuquerque Police Officers.

WHAT: Chile Dogs – and fellowship

WHEN: Friday, February 10, 2017

TIME: 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Albuquerque Police Training Academy, 5412 2nd Street NW – on 2nd Street near South of Montano.

DONATIONS: Donations will be collected in honor of Shaylee Boling and her mother Shaunna Arredondo. The pair was killed after two people stole a vehicle and drove away from the scene recklessly, crashing into the family.

APD Officer Vicente Martinez and his family were so touched by the incident, they wanted to do something to help.

The goal of Chile Dogs with a Cop is much like Coffee with a Cop. It’s  an opportunity to meet your officers face-to-face, enjoy lunch, discuss any questions or concerns you may have and help a grieving family.

The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
