National Missing Children’s Day / Property Crime in the Foothills on Tuesday, May 24th

Today is National Missing Children’s Day.  Some interesting organizations that you may find helpful regarding missing children, protecting children, etc. are the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the National Crime Prevention Council and the Polly Klaas Foundation.  APD Crime Prevention also has information on child safety on the City of Albuquerque web site in the Police pages (www.cabq.gov/police).

Purses in Unattended Vehicles:  Please do not leave purses behind in vehicles.  Remove all items of value and anything with personal information from vehicles when you park and walk away.  Start carrying the minimum amount of items for your errand or destination and try leaving the purse and home and only carrying essentials and keeping them close to you (a small pouch in a pocket, a wristlet, a fanny pack, etc.).

Is anyone aware that the Bernalillo County Detention Center contract with the Mountain Run Apartments (Eubank & Layton) to house felons for after they are realeased for a period of 3 months. Could this be part of the reason property crimes have blown up in this area?
