Neighborhood Watch Story on KOAT Ch. 7 / Property Crime in the Foothills on 4/14/16

Neighborhood Watch Story on KOAT Ch. 7: There was a very positive story about the increase in new Neighborhood Watch groups being formed in the Foothills Area Command recently.  We have formed four new groups just in the last two weeks, which indicates a pro-active stance from citizens and a desire to learn how to prevent being a victim of crime and how to work together as neighbors and partner with APD to safely report criminal or suspicious activity on the block.  Here’s where to find the story:

Thanks to all who have taken the steps to request Neighborhood Watch Starter Kits and work with APD Crime Prevention — your local police appreciate your efforts!  If you would like to form a Neighborhood Watch or re-start one that faded away, contact Steve Sink at 244-6644 to request your Starter Kit.

Property Crime in the Foothills, Thursday April 14, 2016

1 Stolen Vehicle: 900-block Tramway Blvd NE.

1 Commercial Burglary: 13100-block of Central NE.

3 Residential Burglaries: 10600-block of Baldwin NE, 2800-block of Nakomis NE, 5300-block of Avenida Cuesta NE.

Crime Prevention Task for the Weekend Coming Up:  Check your vehicle and review what you leave in the vehicle when you park and walk away.  Frequent targets for auto burglars are garage door openers, vehicle registrations/insurance, personal documents and mail, spare change, iPods, sunglasses, purses/wallets, IDs and drivers licenses, back packs, bags and anything left visible.  Remember:  you need the vehicle registration and insurance in the vehicle when it’s being operated, but not when it’s parked.  I recommend you keep these documents with you and not leave them in the parked vehicle.  Leave nothing of value in a parked vehicle and nothing visible and lock up!  Summer’s coming — remember to check and double-check if you have rolled up the windows and are not ‘venting’ the vehicle.

Have a safe weekend!
