Where is your gun? Two more firearms were stolen yesterday in the Foothills Area Command. One was inside an unattended vehicle and the other one was stolen from an apartment where the resident left the front door unlocked and left. Properly securing firearms is a part of the right to bear arms and the owner’s responsibility. Please do the right thing and properly secure weapons. There have been 7 firearms stolen this month in the Foothills during auto and residential burglaries. To learn more about proper firearms storage, look into the variety of safes that are available, store ammo separately from guns, use a trigger lock, and don’t leave firearms unsecured in vehicles or homes. If a criminal doesn’t feel it’s wrong to break into your home or your vehicle, why would they feel it’s wrong to use your weapon to hurt someone in our community? All of us are counting on gun owners to secure weapons. I’m being a straight-shooter here with this crime prevention tip of the day — pun INTENDED! Be safe.
