Daily Crime Prevention Tips:  Offenders entered homes through open garage doors and windows and with a key yesterday; one residence was entered by forced open the back door.  The resident saw 2 people jumping his neighbor’s fence, but did not call 242-COPS (2677) to report the suspicious activity and was burglarized later.  Our auto burglaries were at areas near busy major traffic corridors with lots of vehicles parked and unattended.  One vehicle’s window was broken to get to tools and the stereo in the vehicle, one vehicle had ignition damage indicating an attempt to steal the vehicle and the other vehicle had equipment stolen.  In one of our cases, the victim chased the suspects stealing equipment from his vehicle and he was injured when he fell out of the offender’s vehicle — do not chase, confront or fight offenders!  Call APD from a place where you are safe and do not endanger yourself.  Our officers are trained to confront dangerous subjects and our community’s safety is our number one concern.  To prevent being a victim, lock up your property and remove all items of value from your vehicles when you park and walk away.  Review who has keys to your home:  are they still trust-worthy?  If not, get the key back and re-key.
