Crime Prevention Tips:  Who do you know?  Funny question for crime prevention, right? Well, many of our property crimes that happened on Tuesday and Wednesday were committed by people who were family members or known to our victims.  Review who should continue to have access to your home, your house keys, your vehicle keys, and decide if they are still trustworthy.  The number of residential burglaries in the Foothills over these past two days would have been 3 instead of 7 if people who were not trustworthy any longer were denied entry to homes.

Most of our residential burglaries were entries made through windows at the back of homes by breaking windows or removing window screens.  Check your home for loose or torn screens, gates or fences that are easy for an offender to hop over to get to your back yard.  Neighbors looking out for neighbors is helpful too on the prevention side of things.

Our auto burglaries were all forced entries:  punched driver’s side door lock and breaking windows to get to tools, tools boxes left inside unattended vehicles and a stereo was stolen.  Remove all items of value from your vehicle when you park to reduce the odds of being targeted for auto burglary.
