Crime Prevention Tips:  I have to remind folks again about key custody:  this is becoming a big issue in the Foothills Area Command!  Luckily, this is an easy issue to solve.

One of five stolen vehicles was stolen by an ex using a key (vehicle was recovered later that same day), both of our residential burglaries were entries used with keys or an entry access code (access code to the garage to enter the home and ex-roommate entry with a key) and one of our two auto burglaries was to an unlocked vehicle.

As a community, we have to get better at keeping track of who has our keys (and access codes if applicable) and are these people trustworthy enough to have access to your vehicles and homes with keys?  Take control of your keys!  Now is the time to do a review and if you need to re-key or ask for keys to be returned, do it while the topic is still on your mind.  You will feel better knowing you have taken control of your environment.
