Daily Watch Notes: Property Crime in the Foothills on Tuesday, August 4, 2015

0 Robberies (cars, individuals, residences or businesses)

0 Commercial Burglaries

0 Residential Burglaries

1 Stolen Vehicle: 10000-block of Menaul Blvd NE.

5 Auto Burglaries:  3 at same address on 1800-block of Blume Street NE, 400-block of Manistee SE, 4200-block of Spanish Bit NE.

Crime Prevention: The majority of yesterday’s auto burglaries were to unlocked vehicles parked outside overnight with valuables inside the vehicles.  These are preventable crimes.  Please remove all items of value and lock your vehicles!  I am seeing more auto burglaries that include damage to the ignition — a sign of attempted auto theft.  Secure your property – take personal responsibility and change a few old habits that no longer serve you.

Food for thought:  do you think our ZERO residential burglary number from yesterday had anything to do with it being National Night Out?  Neighbors looking out for neighbors, hosting neighborhood gatherings, heavy police presence and lots of activity in your neighborhoods.  Something to consider; if you missed out on the fun.  Get a Neighborhood Watch Starter Kit from Steve Sink at 244-6644 — have a National Night Out event next year!  I’d like to hear in the Foothills Talk forum if you think our zero residential burglary number had anything to do with it being National Night Out yesterday/last night.
