I read an interesting article in today’s Wall Street Journal entitled, “Smart Homes Start Where You Park Your Car” by Geoffrey A. Fowler in the Digital Section of June 10’s WSF on page D1. There are many crime prevention applications being developed and utilized through ‘smart’ phones. If you are interested in going this route to monitor garage door activity, be able to use your smart phone as a type of remote for your garage door or are into keeping up with today’s innovations, this article should be of interest.
If you have been following my posts on this site through the Daily Watch Notes, you will already be aware that there is an uptick in residential burglaries and stolen vehicles via criminals stealing garage door openers from vehicles parked outside overnight. Consider this as one more tool available to you to secure your garage and be alerted if the garage door is open.
Crime prevention doesn’t have to be all the ‘bells and whistles’ and I do not endorse any particular product or service; however, consider these tips as tools on securing your property. Take what suits you for your situation.
