Daily Watch Notes: Property Crime in the Foothills, Tue & Wed 5/26 and 5/27

0 Robberies (Car jackings, to individuals, to businesses or home invasions)

2 Stolen Vehicles:  300-block of Dorado SE and 10700-block of Academy Road NE, both at apartment complex parking lots.

2 Commercial Burglaries:  11500-block of Central NE and 1700-block of Haines NE.  Both, sadly, involved extensive damage to property in addition to being burglarized.

3 Residential Burglaries:  10800-block of Central NE, 12300-block of Mountain Road NE, 5400-block of Rawlings Rd NE.  One of these was at a vacant home.  Our officers need extra eyes on homes that are vacant on your block; if you see suspicious activity call 242-COPS or 911 from a safe place.

12 Auto Burglaries: 200-block of Eubank Blvd NE, 500-block of Eubank Blvd NE, 2700-block of June St NE, 2000-block of June St NE, 2 vehicles on 1300-block of Stutz, 2400-block of Chelwood Park Blvd NE, 13100-block of Constitution NE, 1400-block of Michael Hughes Way, 12200-block of Academy Rd NE, 4400-block of Morris NE, 10700-block of Academy Rd NE.

Remember, remove all items of value from vehicles and lock up.  What items were left behind in vehicles that were stolen on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Foothills?  camera, Nikon Kool Pic, vehicle title, vehicle registration, vehicle insurance paperwork, spare keys, 2 subwoofers, an amp, vehicle paperwork, clothing, back pack, sunglasses, CDs, car charger, drivers license, debit card, another drivers license, golf clubs, military papers, iPod.  You control your environment — lock your vehicles and remove your valuables to deter these crimes.

I am seeing the auto burglaries scattered throughout the Foothills occurring at homes, apartment communities and retail locations.  Auto burglary is a crime of opportunity — remove the target (your property) and harden the target (lock up) and park in well-lit areas with passers-by if you can’t park in a secure garage.
