Crime prevention tips from these cases:

Be alert in parking lots and put the cell phone in your pocket.  Victims who are distracted and carrying phones that cost several hundred dollars are easy targets for offenders.  Scan the area before you exit the business and be alert.

Do not give rides to strangers — you put yourself in an extremely vulnerable situation.  A robbery victim was pepper-sprayed in his own vehicle and robbed by 2 strangers he gave a ride to from a local park/community center.

Thank you to an alert citizen who called APD about a suspicious male at a neighbor’s home.  The home was entered via an open laundry room window and police were able to get this person in custoday.  This is a classic case of neighbors caring about one another and calling APD from a safe place with good descriptions.  This is the second instance this past week of a neighbor calling APD to report suspicious persons at a neighboring home and police have one in custody and an excellent description of a male/female pair thanks to alert neighbors.

Over the weekend 2 vehicle registrations and a wallet were stolen from vehicles.  Please remove all items of value when you park your vehicles; this includes any items with personal information and garage door openers.
