Auto Burglaries:  2, one on the 200-block of Eubank SE and one on 12000-block of Skyline Road NE.  One vehicle was left unlocked with 2 cell phones inside; the other vehicle was vandalized and spare tire and jack were stolen.

Advice for families:  If you have kids with house keys who are trusted to come home from school alone and let themselves inside the house, establish some ground rules for safety.  Go over a plan as a family and practice!  If there is a strange car in the house’s driveway, an open door, broken door or windows, or any kind of trouble on their walk or bike ride home from school, establish a ‘safe haven’ — a place where your child could go to on the block to get a trusted and responsible adult to contact a parent or police, depending on the situation.  Make sure your child knows all of your contact information or carries it (parent’s names, work place and phone number, home address).  I have plenty of crime prevention Child Safety brochures here at the Foothills Substation (12800 Lomas Blvd NE).
