Daily Watch Notes: Property Crime in the Foothills on Monday, March 2, 2015

Robbery to a Business:  1, on 9700-block of Menaul.

Robberies to a Residence or Individual:  0

Stolen Vehicle:  1, on 10800-block of San Jacinto.

Car Jacking:  1, on 400-block of Eubank in a parking lot at a retail center.  Offender was seen walking around the parking lot and into the retail area, apparently looking for a target/victim.  When in public, I recommend scanning the area and persons around you.  If you don’t feel safe for any reason, ask the business to have someone escort you to your vehicle.  Report suspicious persons to 242-COPS and the retail management — the management needs to know so they can address it.  If you feel apprehensive, leave and return another time with a friend.

No vehicles stolen while warming up!

Commercial Burglaries:  0

Residential Burglaries:  0

Auto Burglaries:  2, one on the 11700-block of Freeway Place NE and one on the 10400-block of Comanche. One in a residential neighborhood, one parked at a business and victim was inside the business for one hour.

One case involved entry made by the offender through a plastic sheet taped to the vehicle (window was missing).  If you have a repair to make to your vehicle, park in a locked garage until the vehicle can be locked up and secure.  Ask a friend or family member if you can park inside their garage if you don’t have one until the vehicle repair is completed.  A vehicle parked outside overnight with no window and a laptop and medication left inside is just too easy of a target for an offender.  Remember, auto burglaries are crimes of opportunity — make it risky and difficult for an offender to victimize you and your property.
