Sergeant Stephanie Smith began her career with the Albuquerque Police Department in 2003. After serving several years on patrol as an officer, she became a violent crimes detective. Sergeant Smith was a detective for approximately six years, where she specialized in sex crimes and assisted on homicides. During Sergeant Smith’s time as a detective, she was involved in many high profile cases, to include the 118th St. homicides, the “Etherman” case and many other serial violent crime cases. In 2012, she was promoted to the rank of sergeant, where she returned to field service. After completion of the testing and interview process, she was selected as the Foothills Impact Unit sergeant where she currently serves. Sergeant Smith has a passion for investigations and strives to mentor her team so they excel in their skills in this area.
