Trending Tuesday:

Sorry, I did not receive any auto theft data this week from the Crime Analysis Unit for the featured “Trending Tuesday,”  but that information will be provided next Tuesday and I’ll include it for you on the web site.

I was provided with data on auto burglaries that the numbers are down significantly across the city – great news.  Last week’s total of reported auto burglaries dropped from 209 city-wide for seven days to 133 occurrences city-wide.  There were also several good arrests, which is good news.  The Foothills Area Command auto burglary cases mostly involved breaking windows to get into the vehicles to steal items left inside.  We usually see a very close tally of these crimes in the Foothills bounce back and forth between apartment parking lots and single family residential areas, but don’t let your guard down at shopping, entertainment, restaurant and other areas.  It really pays to practice crime prevention with your vehicle at all times by removing items with personal information, garage door openers, valuables, etc. and leaving nothing visible and of course, double-checking to make sure you locked up.

Have a great day and be safe, Jill Garcia, Crime Prevention Specialist / ICPS, NCPS – APD, Foothills Area Command
