Congratulations to the residents of Del Chaparral Court NE for forming a Neighborhood Watch group. Thank you to everyone who attended and to Kelley G. for organizing the meeting and doing the starter kit. We watched a beautiful sunset and were fortunate to have a very well attended meeting and a chance to answer questions from residents and train on basic crime prevention practices. If you would like to form a Neighborhood Watch group, ask about one that may have existed at one time or re-start one on your block that fizzled out please contact our APD Senior Crime Prevention Specialist Steve Sink at 244-6644 to get those questions answered or request a starter kit.
Thursday, October 19th Post: I will be out of the office at a training and you will not see a post from me on Thursday, October 21st.
Foothills Substation Status: We are back open to the community at 12800 Lomas Boulevard NE! The front office staff is here at the Lomas location from Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thank you for your patience to those who may have had to be re-routed to the Dwyer Susbstation during the construction process.
There is a VIN Etching on Saturday, October 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Home Depot parking lot at 1220 Renaissance Boulevard NE. The Vehicle Identification Number etching is free and you just need to bring your vehicle and the current registration to have the APD Auto Theft detectives etch the vehicle VIN number on the windows. It takes just a few minutes and prevents your vehicle from being stolen and taken to a ‘chop shop’ to be dismantled and sold for parts.
The next VIN Etching will be in the Foothills Area Command on Saturday, November 4th at the AAA of New Mexico parking lot from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Folks, I have a feeling this will be the last VIN Etching offered by APD Auto Theft for 2017 due to weather and the holidays. I will post about VIN Etchings here on this web site as dates are provided to me, so check the posts and the Events Calendar or you can call the Citizens Contact Center (dial 311) to check.
