Trending Tuesday: Events coming up! Looking for a Face Painter / Property Crimes reported on Monday, 7/24/17

Trending Tuesday:  Events are coming up that you may want to participate in with the APD Foothills Area Command team —

Officer and Community Appreciation Day:  We are looking for any face painters who would like to use their skills at the event!  Although we cannot afford a fee, we’d love to have a community member who enjoys face painting be able to provide those services.  Interested?  Please contact Jill Garcia at 768-2220.

Volunteers are needed to help with the set up, making sure the event is running smoothly and tidying up at the end of the day.  Volunteers can contact the Foothills front office staff at 332-5240.

Donations of gift cards for food and beverages for the event are also needed.  If you would like to donate a gift card that we can use for the event, please contact Lieutenant John Gonzales at 332-5240.  Special shout out to ‘you know who you are’ on Setter Drive NE — thank you for the gift card donation!

The Foothills Officer and Community Appreciation Day will be on Saturday, August 12th at Manzano Mesa Multi-Generational Center at 501 Elizabeth SE and we will have food, fun and family activities from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Please join us — the community is welcome and this day is for you!

Operation Hope/Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico and the APD Chaplains are working hard to collect school supplies and back to school items by August 1st.

Items can be dropped off at the APD Foothills Substation at 12800 Lomas Blvd NE on Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Property Crime reported in the Foothills Area Command on Monday, July 24th:

8 Stolen Vehicles:  700-block of Eubank Blvd SE, 500-block of Elizabeth SE, 13100-block of Hotel Circle NE, 100-block of Hotel Circle NE, 11000-block of Menaul Blvd NE, 3200-block of Morris Rd NE, 3100-block of Jane Place NE, 4600-block of Eubank Blvd NE.

2 Residential Burglaries:  12200-block of Emperor Dr NE, 5400-block of Luttrell Ct NE.

1 Auto Burglary:  12300-block of Mountain Road NE.

Homes were entered via side gates to the back yard and kicking in the front door; our auto burglary looks like an unforced entry.  Items stolen were a bicycle, various items not detailed, receipts and a handicap placard were stolen during the reported auto burglary yesterday.

Remember:  if you see suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, call 242-COPS (2677) from a safe place and then alert your neighbors.  Communication is key and reporting these incidents is too — thanks to our readers for all you do to keep your communities safer.

I hope you can join us next month at Officer and Community Appreciation Day and help us provide some school supplies and back to school items for children in our community.

Stay safe!
