Stinky socks and sweaty clothes / Did You Know? / Property Crime on Wednesday / Another Gun Stolen from a Car

Stinky socks and sweaty clothes:  A target for auto burglaries?  Yes!  I am seeing a little uptick in auto burglaries involving gym bags left in vehicles.  Burglars don’t know what’s in the gym bag and risk the stinky socks and sweaty clothes with the hope of finding wallets, purses, credit cards, IDs, laptops, tablets, MP3s or iPods.  Bring those gym bags inside when you park and invest in the best lock you can buy for a locker inside the gym to stow your gear.

Did you know?  The Foothills Substation has an array of services for the community that you may not be aware of — here are some of the reasons why you should visit the Foothills Substation:

Safe drug disposal site:  Just ask the front office staff for the procedures to safely dispose of your unused or expired medicines.

Internet Exchange Safety Zone:  We have two dedicated parking spots under cameras for those wishing to exchange internet purchases in a neutral place where the buyer/seller doesn’t have to go to your home.  The parking spots are outlined in green paint and there is signage at each spot to give you a higher comfort level for those types of transactions.

No Solicitor and Slow Down Albuquerque signs/stands and more:  We have free signs for the community for door-to-door soliciting and speeding awareness.  There are also many other community resources in our lobby for you to pick up.

Swim Passes:  We still have swim passes at the substation for youths 17 years and under for city and county pools.  The passes are good for one admission (one time use only) and the pools are listed on the back of the pass.  Come by in person with the children to request a swim pass.  The passes are valid until September 1st.

APD Foothills Substation is at 12800 Lomas Blvd NE (between Juan Tabo and Tramway) and open to the community Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Questions?  Call (505) 332-5240.

Guns:  Yesterday’s gun stolen from a parked vehicle was the 9th gun stolen in July in the Foothills during a residential or auto burglary.  Please do not leave firearms in vehicles and secure them in the house when you leave — guns are valuable targets (no pun intended) for criminals.
