Thank you to the Hidden Valley HOA and my Neighborhood Watch Blocks in Hidden Valley for hosting a potluck during Monday night’s rainstorm! It was great to connect with residents again and hosting gatherings like the one on Monday night helps strengthen neighborly ties. You had a great turnout despite thunder, lightning and pouring rain — that shows how much the Hidden Valley community really cares about getting together and renewing ties.
Another thank you to Patricia and her team at the Tierra Antigua apartment homes community for hosting a crime prevention meeting last night on property. Tierra Antigua has been in the APD partnership program for rental properties for several years and always hosts a well attended annual meeting. Thanks again to management and residents for working together to continue to be a good example of the Crime Free Multi-Housing partnership with APD and how the program works.
National Night Out! Reminder: National Night Out is on Tuesday, August 1st this year and a chance for neighborhoods, apartment communities and other community or faith groups to host an informal, social gathering for neighbors and APD and other city agencies, elected officials and community members to gather socially and renew ties. Summer reminder: Check those screens and windows — are the screens secure and not loose, torn or in need of replacement? Did you remember to lock your windows? Do you need to have your window open a few inches? If you do, get an additional locking mechanism so you can have the window open a few inches and still prevent it from being lifted or slid out of the tracks — most big box hardware stores will have several solutions that are inexpensive and easy to install.
