Property Crime in the Foothills Area Command reported on Thursday, June 29th:
3 Stolen Vehicles: 200-block of Eubank Blvd SE, 12000-block of Skyline Rd SE, 10700-block of Academy Ridge NE. TIP: Never leave the keys in the ignition and walk away from your vehicle. No matter how quickly you think you’ll return, leaving keys in the vehicle and walking away invites auto theft. Don’t let convenience outweigh your security and protecting your property.
4 Residential Burglaries: 11400-block of Linn Ave, 800-block of Monte Alto NE, 11100-block of Indian School Rd NE, 13800-block of Vic Rd NE. Entries were via unlocked garage entry doors, a doggie door and the front door. Items stolen were guns, gold/silver. TIP: Don’t forget to lock/secure your side doors leading into garages and doggie doors. We often forget to secure those entry points, but your home is basically a box with multiple entry points — secure all of the box’s entry points. TIP: Most of have firearms for protection, but they are targets for residential burglaries when left unsecured. The gun is not doing you any good for protection unless it’s on a holster or in your hand. When you leave the house properly secure your gun in a safe or secured area to prevent theft or accidents. Yesterday’s two stolen guns brings the tally I’ve been keeping to 11 guns stolen during the month of June in the Foothills Area Command during auto or residential burglaries.
5 Auto Burglaries: 12300-block of Domingo Rd NE, 1000-block of Betts St NE, 1500-block of Wells Dr NE, 1300-block of Paisano St NE, 12600-block of Menaul Blvd NE (Trailhead parking area). Entries: via unlocked vehicles, smashing windows, prying door/window to gain access. Items stolen: $2000 worth of special electrical tools, vehicle registration and insurance documents, a knife, debit card, IDs, jewelry and a watch. TIP: Pare down what you drive around with in the car — leave nothing of value in an unattended vehicle.
Have a safe and happy weekend,
Jill Garcia, Crime Prevention Specialist / ICPS, NCPS – APD, Foothills Area Command
