Walk the Block! Thanks to the residents of the Neighborhood Watch group on the 9700-block of Aztec Road NE for hosting a “Walk the Block with Jill” evening last night. The neighbors gathered at the Block Captain’s home and I led everyone on a group crime prevention lesson using the homes on their block as illustrations of sound crime prevention practices. It was good to meet in person and learn more about this block of residents who are engaged with each other and the APD and other city departments and elected officials. If you would like to schedule a “Walk the Block with Jill” session, contact me at 768-2220 or at email@example.com (a few nights are still open for August for this crime prevention group activity on my schedule if readers are interested).
A lunch box and a coffee mug? Yes, unfortunately, these items were left in a parked vehicle and were stolen yesterday. Remember to clear your vehicle of anything visible, anything of value and anything with your personal information on it. The auto burglary was a “smash and grab” which means the window was broken to access the items left inside the parked vehicle. Ouch — these incidents are terrible, as the cost of replacing a vehicle window far outweighs the cost of a lunch box and coffee mug.
