Property Crime on Thursday, May 25th / Another Gun Stolen / Tips for the Weekend

Another Gun Reported Stolen:  please secure your firearms when you are not using them.  We had a report yesterday of a gun stolen during a residential burglary.  If you are not using your firearms, put them away safely and secured to prevent accidents or the unsecured weapon being stolen.  As regular readers know, I see this issue as a big community safety risk for all of us.  Help me by spreading the word through the community  — everyone has a stake in this issue.

Tips for the Weekend:  For those who will be enjoying our trails, parks, sporting events, community events, mall trips, summer blockbuster movies, etc. please remember to remove all items of value from your vehicles and lock up.  Most auto burglars will pass by a vehicle that has nothing visible inside and is locked to pick on the weaker target:  the vehicle with bags, purses, wallets, cell phones, parcels, back packs, laptops, iPads, headphones, cell phone chargers and cords, roadside emergency kits, blankets, gym or diaper bags visible inside the vehicle is an attractive target for an auto burglar.  If you control your immediate environment by securing your property you will be able to enjoy your holiday weekend activities with peace of mind knowing you have done what what you can to prevent being an auto burglary victim.
