Blue Ribbons to Support Law Enforcement / Trending Tuesday / Property Crime Reported on Monday, May 1st

Blue ribbons to support law enforcement:  I ordered a supply of free blue ribbons from the Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) group.  The ribbons are in the lobby in the Foothills Substation for the community (12800 Lomas Blvd NE, open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.).  Please stop by and pick up a ribbon to support law enforcement.  The ribbons are perfect for a car antenna, to pin to a door, etc.

Trending Tuesday:  I’m seeing a trend in auto theft in the Foothills of stealing utility trailers in single family residential neighborhoods.  The trailers that have been stolen over the past week in the Foothills Area Command were been parked on the sides of homes or in the driveways (no construction site trailer thefts reported in the Foothills at this time).

Secure your property and if you are able to park your trailer in an area with very limited access (garage, behind locked gates, etc.) you will be taking a step towards preventing this type of auto theft.  Lighting that covers the area where you property is parked will also help.  If you have cameras, check to see that they cover the area.  Alert neighbors who look out for each other should call 242-COPS (2677) or 911 as appropriate if you think you see a neighbor’s trailer being stolen and make that call from a safe place (no following, confronting or putting yourself in a dangerous situation).  Owners:  keep the trailer information listed in a safe place (VIN, make, model, unique features, add-ons, etc.) in the event of theft so the police officer taking your auto theft report can get the trailer into our database as quickly as possible.
