New Neighborhood Watch Group / Don’t leave the car warming up / Property crime on Thursday

Thank you to Charles G. for hosting the Neighborhood Watch facilitation meeting last night for the residents on Soula Drive NE.  We had a really good turnout and one more block has been trained in how to be more unified, how to safety report crime or suspicious activities, how to better protect property and how to track crime in their area.  I also wanted to say thank you for the Girl Scout cookies I was asked to bring back for the officers at the Foothills Substation.   I am sure the officers will enjoy the cookies with a hot cup of coffee on a chilly day like today.

If you would like to form a Neighborhood Watch group on your block, the first step is to contact APD Senior Crime Prevention Specialist Steve Sink at 244-6644.

The Foothills Area Command has had 3 Neighborhood Watch groups start up this year and 20 were formed in 2016 out of 50 formed city-wide.  Our Foothills community really believes in these groups of neighbors working together and with local law enforcement and the officers in the Foothills Area Command appreciate these pro-active groups.

Don’t leave the car warming up and walk away!  We had one reported ‘warm up’ auto theft in the Foothills Area Command yesterday.  This type of auto theft is 100% preventable.  If you have to warm up the car, sit inside and lock up while the heat comes on.  Criminals rove our streets looking for these easy opportunities to steal vehicles.
