In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I found some (believe it or not) crime prevention related Irish sayings: A lock is better than suspicion. Make the fence or you will pay for the plunder. Some good advice. Remember, Crime Prevention Specialists all across the city will come and assess your home and make security recommendations by appointment..just call the substation to request a security assessment.
Here are two more that I liked: Always remember that hindsight is the best insight to foresight. You will never plough a field by turning it over in your mind. I hope you have a happy St. Patrick’s Day.
New Neighborhood Watch Group — Retama Court SE: Thanks to David C. for hosting the facilitation meeting, doing the starter kit and stepping forward as the Block Captain for the residents of Retama Court SE at the gathering last night. This makes the 236th active Neighborhood Watch in the Foothills Area Command and the second Neighborhood Watch formed in the Foothills this year. If you would like to form a Neighborhood Watch group, contact APD Sr. Crime Prevention Specialist Steve Sink at 244-6644 to get a Starter Kit.
Thank you to the 7th grade class at Calvary Christian Academy! The officers at the substation appreciate you and the delicious treats you delivered today.
Daily Property Crime in the Foothills: Thursday, 3/16/17
1 Stolen Vehicle: 10200-block of Oso Grande Rd NE.
4 Residential Burglaries: 14200-block of La Cueva NE, 10500-block of Snow Heights Blvd NE, 1500-block of Martha St. NE, 5500-block of Nordica St NE. Entries: forced entry via bedroom window, window screen removed and entry via unlocked window, unforced entry via a back door. Items stolen: Things moved around inside the home, but nothing stolen in one case. Male entered home and encountered child and fled, nothing taken. Alert neighbor called police when seeing a strange couple leaving the neighbor’s home carrying a suitcase and a leaf blower. Thanks to this alert neighbor — those calls made to 911 or 242-COPS from a safe place are helping those on the block and police.
4 Auto Burglaries: 2 vehicles at the same address on the 100-block of Hotel Circle NE, 11200-block of Lomas Blvd NE, 12500-block of Eastridge NE. Entries: smashing windows, others had no entry information at time of research. Items stolen: A wallet, Social Security card, credit cards, and IDs stolen. Juvenile personal information/Social Security Number/Date Of Birth. One case was an attempt to steal the vehicle that was not successful.
Have a safe weekend —
