Weekend Crime Prevention / Property Crime in the Foothills on Thursday, 2/23/17

Weekend crime prevention:  As you hit the bicycle trails, hiking paths, open space areas to enjoy the weekend, please remember to pare down what you bring with you to these recreational areas.  Only bring what is necessary for your errand and  do not leave wallets, purses, various IDs, personal papers, keys, garage door openers, cell phones, etc. in unattended vehicles. Most of us reason that these types of items are safe to leave behind in the vehicle glove boxes, center consoles, in the trunk, tucked under the vehicle seat, slid into a side panel or door pocket inside the vehicle.  If your vehicle is burglarized these are spots that offenders check and can pry open.  Carry your essentials with you in a small back pack, a fanny pack, or a pouch that you can hook onto a belt loop or slip into a pocket.
