Property Crime over the weekend in the Foothills Area Command (Fri/Sat/Sun)

Property Crime over the weekend (Friday 01/20/17 through Sunday 01/22/17) in the Foothills Area Command

4 Armed Robberies to Businesses:  12900-block of Central NE, 9700-block of Menaul Blvd NE, 10300-block of Menaul Blvd NE, 11100-block of Menaul Blvd NE.

1 Robbery to an Individual:  11100-block of Lomas.  Purse snatching at a large retail shopping area’s parking lot.  Ladies — be very aware when in parking lots and stop carrying a purse — the purse is making you a target.  Pare down what you must take with you to go shopping.

1 Home Invasion/Robbery at a Residence:  600-block of Morris St NE.  Female at home claiming to have been beaten up and when resident opened the door, the female and two males pushed their way into the residence to steal a laptop.  Keep your door locked and do not open up the door to strangers — respond through the locked door that you are calling ‘911’ for them.

12 Stolen Vehicles:  2100-block of Retama Ct SE, 12500-block of Central NE, 100-block of Hotel Circle NE, 1400-block of Morris St NE, 12300-block of Candelaria NE, 2 vehicles stolen at the same location on the 12700-block of Indian School Road NE, Juan Tabo & Constitution NE, 12500-block of Phoenix NE, 4200-block of Eubank Blvd NE, 5100-block of Mesa Del Oso NE, 6300-block of Eubank Blvd NE.  Several of the auto thefts over the weekend were preventable.  Not a good idea to give to strangers a ride at 4:00 a.m. to a convenience store…not a good idea to allow a stranger to take your car to go run an errand…not EVER a good idea to leave a vehicle running with the keys inside and walk away.

1 Commercial Burglary:  100-block of Figueroa.

24 Auto Burglaries:  700-block of Morris NE, 13100-block of Wenonah SE, 12700-block of San Juan NE, 11100-block of Lomas Blvd NE, 13100-block of Parkview NE, 600-block of Paisano, 700-block of Monell Dr NE, 3100-block of Jane Place NE, 1000-block of Tramway Blvd NE, 12000-block of Candelaria Rd NE, 13100-block of Marble NE, two vehicles at the same address on the 12900-block of Indian School Rd NE, two vehicles at the same address on the 3000-block of Juan Tabo Blvd NE, 3000-block of Casa Del Norte Drive NE, two vehicles at the trail head parking area at Embudito Trail (4900-block of Cumbre Del Sol Court NE), 3800-block of Shenandoah Place NE, two vehicles at the same address on the 11000-block of Montgomery Blvd NE, 3300-block of Bahama NE, 4500-block of Morris St NE, 11200-block of Montgomery Blvd NE.

Several of our auto burglaries reported over the weekend were also attempts to steal the vehicles.  If these attempts had been successful, we would have had 6 more auto thefts in our weekend tally. Although these auto burglaries with attempts to steal the vehicles were not successful, there are many vehicles that will need major repair work to ignitions and dashes.

Items stolen from vehicles over the weekend included:  gasoline, cables, GPS, screwdriver, vehicle battery, a jack, a cell phone, video games, cash, assorted variety of knives, power tools, hand tools, tool accessories, keys and key fobs, a gym bag, various articles of clothing, personal papers, credit cards, drivers licenses, various IDs, work credit cards and logs and papers, an appointment book, wallets, purses, and several cases with multiple items not detailed at time of my research.

Be safe and remember to pare down what you leave in your vehicle and carry with you on outings (hiking or shopping).
