Tip of the Day for National Crime Prevention Month / Property Crime on Tuesday

Tip of the Day for National Crime Prevention Month:  Keep your head up!  Use your Situational Awareness skills to be more aware of who is around you and what they are doing.  Is it legitimate behavior for the setting?  Keep your head up and scan the area before you exit your vehicle, when walking, when leaving a store or place of business.  Don’t be tempted to distract yourself with mobile devices or overload yourself with packages and bags.

Property Crime in the Foothills on Tuesday, October 18th

1 Armed Robbery at a Business:  13100-block of Central NE.

1 Stolen Vehicle:  12300-block of Woodland Avenue NE.

1 Residential Burglary:  4200-block of Spanish Bit NE.  Method of entry:  Kicked in the front door; arrest made.

3 Auto Burglaries:  3100-block of Riviera Place NE, 9900-block of Spain NE, 4500-block of Morris NE.  Methods of entries:  Reached in through window left cracked open, broke a window and the third case information on method of entry not available at time of research.  Stolen in 24 hours from parked vehicles?  Purse, wallet, drivers license, credit card, cash, back pack; sunglasses, e-cigarette, sewer camera, various tools, hammer, saw; stereo, wallet, credit card and camping gear.  Clean out all valuables and any items with your personal information and lock up when you park if you want to control your environment.  Most auto burglars will move on to weaker targets if you lock up and leave no temptations inside the parked vehicle.

Have a great day and put your Situational Awareness skills to work!
