October: National Crime Prevention Month / A Tip or Nugget A Day / Weekend Property Crime / CPC Meeting Reminder / Operation Hope

October is National Crime Prevention Month!  I will be providing a Tip-A-Day or an interesting nugget on the history of crime prevention on every post this month to help you learn more about crime prevention from the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners and are taught at their courses all around the world.  To learn more about this organization, see

Crime Prevention Nugget for October 3rd:  Following World War II, crime prevention became institutionalized in England.

Foothills Community Policing Council Meeting Reminder:  The next meeting will be on Monday, October 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the Holiday Park Community Center.

Operation Hope 2016:  APD Chaplains will be assisting needy families once again this holiday season with food boxes.  These families often go hungry over the holiday school break and our area schools will once again be selecting families in need for the Operation Hope food boxes.  It is reported that 358,000 (17% of New Mexico’s population) go hungry every year.  When you are shopping, please consider picking up some extra items to donate to the Operation Hope project.

Here’s what is requested:  Non-perishable food items, condiments, baking goods, juice pouches, etc.  Your donations can be delivered to the APD Foothills Substation at 12800 Lomas Blvd NE on Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Questions?  Please call APD Chaplain Ann Montoya at (505) 228-5003.
