National Situational Awareness Day! Practice your situational awareness skills today — quick tips: When on an errand or visit somewhere, test yourself: Do you know the address? The cross-streets? Are there two exits where you could flee if you had to get out quickly? If someone presented themselves as an attacker, what is around you that you can use as a weapon if you have to defend yourself? Are you able to describe the people around you if you had to call 911? Are you checking the parking lot before you exit your vehicle? Have you taken a loop around the parking lot first to see if anyone is lingering or loitering who does not appear to have legitimate business at the location? Are you carrying a big purse or do you have your essentials for your errand tucked away in a pocket? Are you distracted by a cell phone? Practicing Situational Awareness can save lives and reduce the odds of being a victim of a criminal.
Day 25 of the Foothills 30-Day Garage Door Pledge: So far, so good! Our two residential burglaries reported yesterday did not involve methods of entry via an open garage door. Per my daily research since the 30-day Garage Door Pledge has started, I show one residential burglary that had entry via a garage door left open so far through Day 25.
