Day 4 of the Foothills Area Command “30-Day Garage Door Pledge” We are into Day Four of our 30-Day Garage Door Pledge. Have you given more thought to closing the garage door, reminding a neighbor who may have forgotten to close their garage door? I am enjoying the feedback from the people who are supporting this effort — thanks, and feel free to share your feedback with me via this web site or email at jcgarcia or leave me a voicemail at 323-4644.
Trends: With great outdoor weather, school sports, large-scale events coming up in September I expect to see a rise in auto burglaries all over the city at parks, large parking lots, trail head parking areas and commercial areas. That being said, it’s time to harden targets and bring in items from vehicles when you park. Hiking or using our trails? Stop bringing a purse. Carry a fanny pack, or pouch, put small items in pockets or bring a little back pack with you.
Guests coming for the State Fair? Give guests crime prevention / target-hardening tips. Hosting visitors for weekends or the Fair who park at your home may not be savvy to the current crime tips and trends. Let them know that they will need to remove articles from their vehicles and lock up and be vigilant about not leaving windows ‘cracked’ open to ‘vent’ vehicles.
