Workshop Wednesdays: Topics / What’s Coming Up! Property Crimes in the Foothills on Thu. 08/04/16

Workshop Wednesdays at the Foothills:

August:  There are still seats available!  Our August 17th “Workshop Wednesday at the Foothills” (at 12800 Lomas Blvd NE from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.) is a special presentation by the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) on underage drinking and pointers on having a conversation with the family on this topic.  All ages are welcome.  I still have some room for this one — call me at (505) 323-4644 or email me at jcgarcia@cabq.gov if you would like to attend.

September:  Now taking RSVPs!  call 23-4644 or email me at jcgarcia@cabq.gov

Have you also noticed, like I have, how it appears that more and more panhandling and homeless are in the residential areas in the Foothills Area Command?  This was brought up at the July Foothills Area Command Neighborhood Watch Summit, and I want to provide information for the community from a Crisis Specialist with the APD Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST).  The September “Workshop Wednesday at the Foothills” will have a special guest from the COAST team and we will have the newly placed day shift and graveyard shift Lieutenants in attendance to meet the community.  Please RSVP me to save you a seat at (505) 323-4644 or jcgarcia@cabq.gov.  If you have a disability accommodation request, notify me at least two weeks prior to the workshop.

September 28, 2016 at 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the APD Foothills Substation, 12800 Lomas Blvd NE.  Due to limited seating, please RSVP me (505) 323-4644 or email me with your RSVP to jcgarcia@caq.gov.  If you have a disability accommodation request, let me know at least two weeks prior to the workshop.

On tap — October is National Crime Prevention Month and I will host a citizen-led crime prevention for the home workshop for October’s “Workshop Wednesday at the Foothills.”  I have a resident from the Foothills Area Command booked to talk about his family’s strategies and home protection plan, and I would like residents to come prepared to share what they use for crime prevention for the home.  Watch this web site and nextdoor.com for notices to sign up in mid-September for the October workshop.

A word about “Workshop Wednesdays at the Foothills” — these workshops are for the entire community unless otherwise noted (special forums, summits, etc.).  You do not have to live in the Foothills Area Command to attend.
