Ch-ch-changes! Concerning Issue — Keep an Eye on This — Property Crimes in the Foothills on Thursday, June 9th

Ch-ch-changes…The APD Foothills web site got a make-over!  I hope you like the changes and the new look.  The issue with a few subscribers getting single posts five times has been resolved as well.  Due to the number of subscribers we have on the web site, part of the change is that my posts will be sent at 5:00 p.m.  If you are in the habit of checking your emails on breaks at work/school or on your lunch break or during the day, you will see the posts after 5:00 p.m. from now on.  Thanks for reading the web site and I hope you are getting value, tips you can implement in your daily life and new awareness.  Crime prevention is for everyone and just makes good sense.

Concerning issue that I hope will not become a trend:  Leaving weapons inside vehicles — yesterday a hatchet, a machete and a four-inch long knife were all inside vehicles that were stolen.  The day prior guns were left inside vehicles that were stolen or burglarized.  Please take the few extra seconds necessary to properly secure your weapons.  I don’t want to hear of a tragedy later with someone hurt or killed with a weapon that was left inside a vehicle.

Keep an eye on this:  I am seeing a few vehicles being stolen during residential burglaries.  Offenders make their way into the home and steal keys or purses with keys inside and then proceed to steal the vehicle at the victim’s residence.  I want to see if this continues and becomes a trend, or if it’s a few isolated cases.  In the meantime — secure those garages, lock up the vehicle you park in the garage or on the driveway, secure keys, don’t leave keys in the ignition in a vehicle in the garage or purses, wallets, etc.  If there is a burglary inside the garage, those items will very likely be used to commit further crimes.
