Caution at the Pumps: Please remember to not leave purses, wallets, etc. in your vehicle and walk away to go inside the convenience store to pay for gas or purchase items. These items are targets for criminals waiting for an opportunity and the target is easy.
A “warm up” auto theft this weekend: Keys left inside a vehicle left unattended while warming up — these usually happen in the winter when it’s cold and frosty. This is one of those things in life that is a tough to deal with as a victim because it is such a preventable crime and one of opportunity. The one this weekend only had a two minute time delay from the time the victim walked away to when the victim called police realizing the vehicle had been stolen. Your job as a citizen is to DETER – DELAY – DENY a criminal access to your property and to control your environment. Never leave a vehicle running, keys inside and walk away.
If anyone attended the Saturday VIN Etching and Public Safety Day at the Balloon Museum last Saturday, I’d love to see your comments on the web site!
