Thank you to the residents on Camino Arbustos NE for forming a Neighborhood Watch group! Officer Render and I attended a really fun and well attended facilitation meeting/gathering last night and provided many crime prevention tips and information about the APD Foothills Area Command team who looks out for our citizens 24/7. Special thanks to Kent P. for organizing, hosting and stepping forward to serve as Block Captain and to John C. for serving as Co-Captain. Kent P. attended our “Workshop Wednesday at the Foothills” Block Captain Forum in February and shared some great ideas to keep residents on his block connected — these people are unity in action and they know how to have fun while looking out for one another.
If you want to form a Neighborhood Watch on your block, contact APD Crime Prevention Coordinator Steve Sink at 244-6644 to request a Starter kit.
Property Crime in the Foothills on Tuesday, April 12th:
1 Stolen Vehicle: 1400-block of Juan Tabo Blvd NE.
1 Residential Burglary: 800-block of Tomasita NE.
3 Auto Burglaries: 10900-block of Central SE, 13100-block of Parkview NE, 10800-block of Montgomery Blvd NE.
Remember not to leave articles of value or anything visible in your parked vehicle! Vehicle registrations, insurance papers, wallets, drivers licenses, Social Security cards, credit and debit cards, iPods are being left behind in vehicles and stolen from both locked and unlocked parked vehicles. All of these items can be carried with you when you park. You need to have the registration and insurance when operating the vehicle, but these documents are not required to be inside the vehicle when it is parked. These documents are common targets for auto burglars and used to figure out where the victim lives and commit a residential burglary or to piece together parts of a profile to commit identity theft, compounding the original crime.
