More ‘warm up’ stolen vehicles? Yes… Property Crime on Thursday, 3/31/16

More ‘warm up’ stolen vehicles in the Foothills?  Yes, unfortunately!  We had 3 vehicles stolen in the Foothills yesterday morning that were left warming up and unattended.  Two of the three were at the same address when both the husband and the wife left the vehicles running and unattended.  Please help me spread the word to the community that we cannot do this any longer!  These types of auto thefts typically occur in the early morning hours and vehicles warming up are easy to spot due to the exhaust plumes that serve as a beacon to criminals lurking in the neighborhood looking for an easy auto theft opportunity.  These can also occur at ‘quick stops’ to dash into the gas station, the day care to pick up children, leaving the vehicle running to go to the newspaper or mail box, etc.  This is a crime of opportunity and if you limit the opportunity, you will vastly reduce the odds of being a victim of this type of crime.

Have a great weekend,
