Tax Time: Tax Professionals – Harden those Targets! Property Crimes on Tues. 3/22/16

Tax Time:  We are seeing commercial burglaries at tax preparation offices where documents with personal information are the targets.  If you have an office, take extra measures to secure personal information and customer data.  Your APD Area Command’s Crime Prevention Specialist can make recommendations on hardening your target:  the office and what’s inside.  Check your lighting, door and window locks, access points, secure personal and client information, consider alarms and cameras, etc.  Common targets for these types of commercial burglaries are:  documents, W2s, records, checkbooks for the business, etc.  The more difficult and risky you make it for a potential burglar, the better — you will lower your odds of being a victim.
