Crime Prevention Tips of the Day:  Help me spread the word to the community about:

1) not leaving a vehicle with the keys inside, unattended, warming up (we had 2 of these crimes yesterday),

2) vehicle key custody — knowing who has your vehicle keys and if they are trustworthy.  Two vehicles were stolen yesterday using keys by ‘friends’ of victims, yet they turned out to not be trustworthy friends!

3) properly securing firearms (a firearm was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle yesterday that was parked and unattended).

Those who are regular readers of this web site and the property crime tallies already know these types of recommendations; however, I am trying diligently to reach those who do not know good crime prevention practices yet!  This is where you come in and can help me by spreading the word to family, friends, neighbors, colleagues.  I am hoping that with the community’s help, our community workshops at the substation and our APD Foothills Area Command team attending neighborhood meetings that we will get the word out and our community will benefit as a whole.  Practicing crime prevention will also reduce the calls for service to our field officers.  Thanks for reading the web site and being a part of our Foothills network —
