Crime Prevention Tip of the Day and Property Crime on Monday, 11/16/15 in the Foothills

1 Vehicle Stolen while left unattended warming up:  12600-block of Loyola NE.  Twenty minute window of opportunity for a thief.  Don’t take this unnecessary chance with your vehicle (or any pets or children left inside the vehicle) — this is a 100% preventable crime and draws a criminal element to your block.

1 Residential Burglary:  2000-block of Britt.

Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: Never leave a vehicle left unattended with keys inside or warming up.  This is a crime of opportunity, and believe me, there are criminals out in the community looking for just this type of opportunity to steal a vehicle.  Don’t risk it.  I have seen cases reported where the time delay was anywhere from two minutes to twenty minutes when the vehicle was left running and unattended.  How many things in life come with a 100% guarantee?  This type of crime is one of those things that is 100% preventable.  Remember about your ‘quick stops’ too – those quick errands when you drive to the community mail box, dropping off or picking up kids, running into the mini-mart, etc. and remember to take that one extra moment to bring your car keys with you and lock up the vehicle.

Stay safe, enjoy the snow and control your environment!
