Crime Prevention Tip of the Day:  What do you leave inside your vehicle when you park and walk away?  Over the weekend (Friday – Sunday) these items were stolen from parked vehicles, both by simply opening the vehicle door or breaking a vehicle window:  cash, 2 purses, multiple wallets, several IDs, a cell phone, a camera, $1,000 in cash, vehicle registration and stereo/equipment.  Remove all items of value when you walk away from your vehicle.  Consider only carrying what you need with you for that particular errand.  We had three auto burglaries over the weekend at trail head parking lots, one at a place of worship and one at an apartment parking lot.  As the weather gets colder, there will probably be fewer visitors to trails, which may show a reduction of auto burglaries at those sites.  However, with the holidays approaching, we may see an increase of auto burglaries at places of worship, movie theatres, shopping centers and other places where people gather to spend at least an hour away from their vehicles.  Reduce your odds of being a victim of auto burglary by locking up, removing all items of value when you leave your vehicle, checking on your vehicle periodically and parking in well lit, well traveled areas.  Stay safe.
