1 Robbery:  Commercial on 13300-block of Central NE.  No robberies to homes, individuals or vehicle/car jackings.

0 Stolen Vehicles.

0 Commercial Burglaries.

1 Residential Burglary:  1800-block of Betts NE.

4 Auto Burglaries: 700-block of Juan Tabo Blvd NE, 1500-block of Eubank NE, intersection of Rover & Tramway, 3800-block of San Marcos Place NE.

Crime Prevention Tips of the Day based on these cases:  I continue to see residential burglaries in the Foothills Area Command with entries via open windows, doors and garage doors.  I am also seeing a number of burglaries with entries made by removing screens at the backs of homes and getting into the house through windows in this fashion.  This is where YOU come in:  please serve as law enforcement’s extra set of eyes and ears on the block and call 242-COPS or 911 from a safe place if you see any strangers tampering with screens, windows or attempting to scale fences or walls to get to the back of a home.  Neighborhood Watch groups are effective — if you want to start or re-ignite one, call Steve Sink at 244-6644 to get a starter kit and have a conversation about how easy these groups are to start up.

I am seeing a small trend developing of vehicle parts being stolen — 4 vehicle batteries and 1 vehicle front bumper were stolen from vehicles in the Foothills this month.  Watch your vehicles, park in locked/secured areas, remove all items of value from your parked vehicle when you exit the vehicle.  Re-think leaving your wallets, purses, back packs, cash, tools, driver’s licenses, credit cards, social security cards inside unattended vehicles.  Bring in your registration/insurance inside with you or carry them on your person in a pocket — these are frequently targets for auto burglars.

Stay safe everyone and practice crime prevention to reduce your odds of being a victim!
