Workshop Wednesdays at the Foothills: Crime Prevention for the Home

Thanks to everyone who attended last night’s Workshop Wednesday at the Foothills.  That was fun!  We had an overflow crowd and the next session on this topic is also full.  I hope those who attended got some good information and will start using the crime prevention tips right away.  As you learned last night, crime prevention doesn’t have to be all the ‘bells and whistles’ and can be simple things to layer your target with protection.  A lot of crime prevention comes down to personal responsibility and controlling your environment, which is empowering.  If you want to see any media coverage from last night, I saw a piece on KOB TV’s web site this morning and heard there was coverage on KOAT’s news broadcast this morning, so there is probably a small video or piece on their web site as well.  Thanks for the great feedback, and by golly – we made it in/out in one hour (plus 4 minutes)!  Stay safe everyone,

Jill Garcia, Crime Prevention Specialist / ICPS, APD – Foothills Area Command

It sounds like last night was a great success, Jill, and I like what you said about how empowering one feels when he/she takes personal responsibility in controlling one’s environment to prevent crime….well said!

Thanks for the workshop Jill. My husband and I took away valuable information. Looking forward to the next one on safety for women.
