Crime Prevention Tips:  I am seeing a few trends that may help you better protect your property:  one is that trailers/campers/RVs were targeted yesterday; the other is the number of crimes that had time delays in reporting them to APD.  What’s a time delay?  The time between when the property was last seen and the time the crime was reported.  When I see time delays that are from 1-3 days and even a 1 month time delay that indicates that victims were not keeping an eye on their property.  Victims did not realize they burglarized or a vehicle was stolen or residential burglary occurred until days, and in one case, up to a month later.  If you must park RVs, trailers, campers/camper shells outside, check them regularly to make sure they are properly secured.  Lock them and treat them as you would your home:  are additional locks needed, what about anti-lift/anti-slide mechanisms for windows, is your lighting doing the job to cover these large items parked at your home, etc.? Do your homework and look into what types of anti-theft devices will work for your particular situation.
