Crime Prevention Tips:  I am continuing to see the pattern of cutting or removing the screen from a back window at single-family homes to gain entry to burglarize the home.  Another home was burglarized by gaining entry through the front door (damaginthe door).  Be watchful and report anyone who doesn’t seem to have legitimate business in your neighborhood trying to gain access to the back of a home/back yard to 242-COPS (2677) from a place where you are safe.  No confronting, no chasing, no ‘patrolling’ — just make the call and give the APD operator the best description you can.  You see more than you realize and notice things on your block that are not ‘normal’ for your area.  Your eyes on the block are important to fighting crime.

The time for residential burglaries tend to spike mid-day (when we are at work or running errands) and mid-week (Tues-Wed-Thu).  Zero auto burglaries yesterday was fantastic, but we still need to work on building Neighborhood Watch groups (call 244-6644 to get a Starter Kit) to train you in what to watch for and how to report it safely.
