Crime Prevention Tip: I am seeing an increase in stolen vehicles in the Foothills Area Command this week.  If you must park outside of your garage overnight, 1) lock up and check to make sure you did not leave windows open/rolled down, 2) remove all items of value from vehicle including anything with personal information, 3) check your outdoor lighting to make sure areas that need illuminated are covered by lighting, 4) check the sight lines — you want a neighbor to be able to see to your driveway in order to call police if they see someone trying to break into your vehicle, 5) check into the wide array of anti-theft devices for vehicles — they run from low tech to high tech and are at every price point, 6) driveway sensors are also on the market that alert when someone crosses the sensor beam.  Take what you need from these tips and apply what works for you and your situation.  Be safe.  Do not hesitate to call 242-COPS (2677) or 911 from a safe place if you witness a crime in progress or suspicious behavior.
