Daily Watch Notes: Thu – Sun Property Crime in the Foothills (5/28-5/31)

No carjackings or commercial robberies.

2 Robberies to Individuals:  300-block of Eubank Blvd NE and 600-block of Paisano NE.  Ladies — leave the purses at home and only carry what you need for your errand on your person (in a pocket, fanny pack, etc).  Purses make you targets.

1 Home Invasion Robbery at a Residence:  13200-block of Mountain Rd NE.  Offender knew apartment dweller had a safe and large amount of cash.  Keep your personal information private — do not disclose what belongings you have in your home.

7 Stolen Vehicles:  700-block of Eubank Blvd NE, 1400-block of Eubank Blvd NE, 10100-block of Menaul Blvd NE, 1800-block of Martha NE, 9800-block of Menaul Blvd NE, 12500-block of Montgomery Blvd NE, 6200-block of Eubank Blvd NE.  These are crimes of opportunity and most were committed at ‘target-rich environments’ — places where lots of vehicles are parked for hours on end or overnight.  There are many anti-theft devices you can employ and I recommend you park in well-lit and well-traveled locations where others can see your vehicle and report any criminal activity to police.

2 Commercial Burglaries:  Both on the 100-block of Juan Tabo Blvd NE.  APD Crime Prevention offers free security assessments for businesses and robbery prevention tips.  Call me at 332-5240 for more information.

11 Residential Burglaries:  200-block of Jane St NE, 200-block of Zena Lona NE, 12600-block of Singing Arrow SE, 11900-block of Horseshoe Trail SE, 14100-block of Copper NE, 14200-block of Copper NE, 700-block of Burma, 2 at the same home on 1100-block of June St NE at different times, 11800-block of Montgomery Blvd NE, 5400-block of Donahoo Ct NE.  Many of these burglaries were at homes that were not secured — open/non-functioning garages, vacant homes undergoing construction, windows left unlocked, etc.  APD Crime Prevention offers free security assessments; call 332-5240 to book one for your home.

9 Auto Burglaries:  700-block of Eubank Blvd NE, 300-block of Kaylyn Dr SE, 12000-block of Skyline Rd NE, hiking trail parking at Indian School Rd NE, 12100-block of Indian School Rd NE, 9900-block of Spain Rd NE, 4000-block of Bermuda Dr NE, 4600-block of Eubank Blvd NE.  The majority of these crimes occurred at apartment communities; however, auto burglary is a crime of opportunity.  Do not leave any items of value in your vehicles and lock up.  During this time frame, purses and IDs were stolen from vehicles with windows rolled down and purses and other items left in plain sight in unattended, unsecured vehicles.  Take your IDs/wallets with you when you park to hike — I am seeing a slight uptick in auto burglaries at trail head parking sites.  Offenders are not afraid to smash windows to steal valuables left behind in vehicles.
