Scam Alert!

I have had a report from a citizen in the Spain/Morris area saying fliers are being handed out at homes warning citizens that they must have the address numbers painted on their curbs per fire department regulations.  If you want this service done, you should be the one making contact and ensuring that the vendor is legitimate and the job will be done correctly.  Use caution and common sense when hiring for a job to be done at your home.  Most scams start with a stranger making contact with you .  You will be more protected from a scam or wasting your money by doing your homework and hiring a reputable vendor to do these types of jobs or doing them yourself.

If you have a “No Soliciting” sign and are bothered or you see a person in your neighborhood who appears to be suspicious, that is a legitimate 242-COPS (2677) call.  Call from a place where you are safe, provide the operator the best description you can and a police officer will be dispatched.  There are free “No Soliciting” signs at the APD Foothills Substation at 12800 Lomas Blvd NE — come by and ask the front office staff for one on Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m and 5:00 p.m.  Post the sign by your door and never open the door to an uninvited stranger; respond through a locked door or nearby window.

Stay safe!
