Crime Prevention Tip:  From our caes this week, I am seeing garage door openers being stolen from vehicles parked outside homes overnight.  I cannot stress enough how VITAL it is to your families and your community that you remove ALL items of value from vehicles when you park and walk away.  This includes garage door openers.  The garage door openers that are being stolen are used by offenders to access garages to continue their criminal behavior and steal from our community.  This means access to other vehicles to steal the vehicle, burglarize other vehicles, steal items stored in your garages.  Think of your garage as another door to your home.  Lock up.  Secure your property properly.  Clear out your garage and park in a locked, secure garage if possible.  We want you and your family and neighbors to be safe.

Just this week (Monday and Tuesday!) items stolen from vehicles by burglars include:  $1300 cash, assorted cash left in center console, phone charger and extra cords, a GPS system, a stereo, multiple IDs, a Social Security card, garage door openers.

Please report anyone suspicious to 242-COPS (2677) from a place where you are safe.
